Welcome to Portland United Youth Football Club

Season – 2023-2024

PUYFC is a community football club; we were founded in 2001 by two parents.
We have teams from ages U6 to Adults, playing in the Dorset Mini-Soccer League and Dorset Youth Football League. For the 2024/2025 season,
We are a family-centred Club and always welcome new players, coaches, fund-raisers, and parents who simply wish to help, so please come and join us!
The idea behind PUYFC is to give the younger children on the Island a hobby that can help to keep them fit and healthy whilst having fun.
We welcome all children from Portland and surrounding areas, who have an interest in playing football

Training
Will be notified by each manager of each team
Indoor Arrangements
During the winter months, some training is held indoors. Managers will notify members accordingly.

Attendance
If a child does not attend without notice for three weeks, we will assume that the child no longer wishes to attend. They will not be asked to attend again and their monthly fee will not be returned.
This may sound harsh but it is to ensure fairness to other children in the teams and to any waiting list that may be in operation. Just let us know if you intend being away for a couple of weeks.

Please note during training the following apply –

• Training Ground – the children will not be allowed to leave the training area without a parent.

• Message – each week at the end of training, we will tell the children that “If you are expecting someone to pick you up and they don’t arrive on time, do not leave the field under any circumstance”. The children must tell their manager.

• Parents – we are asking that you help us with this by reminding the children when you drop them off. In addition, can you come into the field to collect them and not ask them to come to the car to meet you?

• Parent Help – Can you all help us in looking out for other people’s children? If you see a child alone and you think there is a problem – let us know.

• Older children – we understand that some of the children walk to and from training on their own, as they live locally. We must have written permission to let them do this. Without written permission, the children will not be allowed into training, as it becomes our responsibility when we let them walk home on their own. WE MUST HAVE WRITTEN PERMISSION.

The above also applies to the indoor training venue.

• Volunteers – Please remember that everyone involved in the club does this out of their own time. It is very important that you arrive promptly to collect your child from training.
• Late sessions – We appreciate that training does run over sometimes, when we are carried away! Feel free to collect your child even if we have not finished.

Poor Weather Conditions
Training and matches usually take place even when it is raining. If managers decide that conditions are, too poor for training or matches, parents will be contacted by telephone at the earliest time possible on the day. The weather can be very changeable; therefore, it is always best to arrive at the usual time unless you are informed otherwise.

Equipment Needed
• Shin pads, (F.A. requirement during matches, and must be worn for training sessions.)
• Outdoor trainers.
• Indoor trainers with non-marking sole will be required when training moves indoors during the winter months.
• Boots (screw-in or moulded studs are acceptable.)
• For artificial 3G pitches only moulded studs allowed.
